Welcome to our math class!  Working hard together, we know we will have a great year.



Supplies Needed

q  Section in your big binder or a smaller binder just for math


q  5 dividers


q  Pencils, Red Pens, Highlighter, and Paper


 


Procedures

q  Class begins when you enter the door: We expect you to get out your materials, copy the day’s agenda into your planner, and begin work.  Once you enter the classroom you may not leave.


q  Student must have notebook every day.  We will spend one class period putting the notebook together.  We will be doing random notebook checks for a quiz grade.


q  Work is done in pencil and checked in red pen.  Pencils are sharpened before the bell.  ALL WORK IS SHOWN IN PROPER FORMAT.


q  All assignments are due the next day.  LATE WORK IS NOT ACCEPTED. 


q  Student should check our webpage for assignments, tests, and notice of progress reports. 


q  We will treat each and everyone in our class with respect.


q   We will give you 100% effort and expect 100% effort from you.


q  Tutoring is available 8:00-8:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday in our room.


q  Retests are offered if a student fails a test. 


q   Guidelines: (1) Maximum retest grade is a 70.   (2) Only one retest per nine weeks.  (3) Student is responsible to come during tutorial times to take retest within one week.



Make-up Work

If a student is absent or tardy, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange and complete the make-up work following school policy.  Work assigned before an absence will be turned in the next day you are in class.  Make-up quizzes/tests will be given before school at 8:00  a.m. any morning except when we have duty or a meeting.  It is your responsibility to schedule the make-up test within one week of the absence. 


 

Grading

Nine Week averages will be determined by the following weighting:


Major grade average (tests/projects)……… …………………60%


Daily average (homework/participation)………………….……20%


            Quiz average (warm-ups & notebook/planner quizzes) …..…20%



Semester averages will be determined by the following weighting:


First Nine Weeks average…………………………..…….….45%


Second Nine Weeks average……………………….………..45%


Semester Exam…………………… ……….………….……...10%
